Impact through our Subsidised Care Initiative

Impact isn't only how much recovery we create; it's who gets to receive it.

In thousands of Singapore homes, the daily caring is done by foreign domestic workers, women from the Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, and across Southeast Asia, who look after other people's children, parents and households, far from their own families.
The work is physically hard, and their own health is usually the last thing anyone asks about. Pelvic and women's-health conditions such as pain, incontinence, prolapse, and untreated injury from earlier childbirth are common among them and almost never addressed. Specialist care sits well beyond what their wages allow, time off is difficult, and few are ever told the care exists.

They are not the only women who fall through the gap. In Singapore, women from lower-income households face many of the same barriers, not always the absence of insurance, but the reality that out-of-pocket costs for specialist care compete with more pressing household needs. Conditions go unaddressed for years, not because women don't seek help, but because the path to it is too steep.

Our Subsidised Care Initiative exists for both groups. Because pelvic health is not a luxury. And the women who need it most should not be the last to receive it.

Accessible Women's Care

Our Subsidised Care Initiative is built to reach exactly these women. They receive the same specialist physiotherapy, from the same clinicians, measured in the same way as every other patient, at a heavily reduced fee, with the gap closed by women's-health grants and corporate sponsors, and PDU contributing clinician time at reduced margin.

It's structured to last, not to depend on goodwill. This is a co-funded, sustainable programme rather than a donation-dependent charity: the patient fee keeps it disciplined, grants and sponsors extend its reach, and PDU runs it as part of the clinic, so the care outlives any single grant cycle, and the women who rely on it aren't left stranded when one ends.

And it's often where recovery counts for the most. These patients tend to reach us late and in real difficulty, so the change we can make, and the pain, lost income and surgery we can help them avoid, is among the largest we see. Every outcome is tracked with the same instrument as the rest of our work and reported in our Impact Report, so a funding partner can see exactly what their support makes possible, woman by woman.
