Senior Pelvic Health Physiotherapist. Special interest in Women’s Pelvic Health
Tamara has over 20 years of physiotherapy experience, with 15 of those as a specialised women’s health physiotherapist.
Tamara is a registered physiotherapist with the Allied Health Professions Council in Singapore, The Singapore Physiotherapy Association as well as the Physiotherapy councils in Australia, United Kingdom and South Africa.
After graduating with a BSc (Physiotherapy) from the University of Cape Town in 1999, Tamara moved to the UK to work as a physiotherapist for the NHS in London. After 3 successful years in London, she moved to Sydney, Australia in 2004. Here she began her specialisation in women’s health physiotherapy at the Royal Hospital for Women (RHW). With more than 4000 births per year, the RHW was the foundation for Tamara’s extensive experience in Women’s Health Physiotherapy.
At the end of 2011, Tamara moved to Singapore with her husband and two young children.
Whilst practicing as a women’s health physiotherapist in Singapore, Tamara furthered her studies by completing her Graduate Certificate in Continence and Women’s Health Physiotherapy through Curtin University in Perth, Australia.
Tamara has a keen interest in pelvic organ prolapse and in her desire to further help her patients with bothersome prolapse symptoms Tamara went on to complete a Professional Certificate in Conservative Management of Pelvic Organ Prolapse through the University of South Australia in Adelaide, allowing her to fit support pessaries for prolapse which can be life changing for many women.
Tamara’s thirst for more knowledge led her to complete her Masters in Clinical Physiotherapy (Continence & Women’s Health) through Curtin University in Perth, and she was then awarded titling as an APA Continence and Women’s Health Physiotherapist.
Tamara is passionate about all aspects of women’s health physiotherapy.
Tamara is a firm believer in educating women about their own bodies, so they are empowered to achieve their goals. She can often be found giving educational talks to pregnant and postnatal women to help promote the best outcome for their pelvic health. She also lectures high school students in Singapore international schools about their pelvic health in the hope that common pelvic health issues can be identified and managed early. She continues to frequently participate in overseas advanced women’s health physiotherapy courses.
